Product Formulation Scientist

About

The mission of the Product Formulation Scientist is to innovate and optimize formulations that enhance the effectiveness and safety of products targeting public health and agricultural applications. By leveraging scientific expertise and collaborating across teams, the role aims to develop groundbreaking solutions that protect communities from pests, support global health initiatives, and drive the commercialization of advanced products. The ultimate goal is to contribute to the company’s strategic vision by delivering high-quality formulations that meet regulatory standards and address critical market needs.

The role is based in North Carolina, USA and will report directly to the Head of Research & Development, Public Health.

Main responsibilities:

  • Assist in identifying new active ingredients for strategic application areas, including public health initiatives such as LLIN, repellents, attract-and-kill strategies, and traps.
  • Develop and optimize formulations for active ingredients used in LLIN, repellent products and other public health applications.
  • Design agricultural chemical formulations for targeted applications.
  • Manage processes such as surface treatment, blending, and milling to achieve desired formulation characteristics.
  • Conduct laboratory tests on formulated active ingredients to evaluate efficacy against target pests in alignment with the company’s strategic application areas.
  • Collaborate with external partners to conduct lab and semi-field tests, ensuring the performance of formulations.

Qualification & Experience

  • MS or BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of relevant industrial experience in formulation development, experience in repellent formulation is a plus
  • Experience in material and formulation sustainability is strongly desired
  • Residence in Research Triangle Area of North Carolina USA is desired (no relocation offered)
  • Strong knowledge of formulation techniques and processes.
  • Experience with lab testing and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and procedures.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

    About the job:

    As the Product Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing the company’s PermaNet® product portfolio. The Product Portfolio Manager sits at the intersection of understanding customer needs, regulatory requirements, product development, and business objectives. Based on understanding and representing user needs, monitoring market trends and industry insights, and defining and prioritizing product value proposition and features, s/he is responsible for product management throughout the product lifecycle and is a key contributor to product marketing.

    This role is based in Lausanne, and will report directly to the Head of Strategy & Business Development.

    Main responsibilities:

    • Conduct market research and analysis and gather insights from across the company to identify trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs relevant to the PermaNet portfolio. Use insights to inform portfolio decisions and identify growth opportunities.
    • Develop core positioning and messaging for the features, advantages, and benefits of the product and brand.
    • Define product differentiation, USP, and competitive advantage.
    • Promote the product to Sales through training sessions and other mechanisms
    • Understand market segments and represent customer, stakeholder, and user needs.
    • Set criteria, monitor, steer and report out on the product performance in the lab and in the field through appropriate governance channels
    • Establish and maintain governance processes for portfolio management, including regular portfolio reviews, decision-making frameworks, and resource allocation.
    • Contribute to market and sales long-term forecast (volume, revenue, profit), demand planning, and market scenarios
    • Define product roadmaps that outline direction and priorities to guide the multi-generation product portfolio strategy.
    • Contribute to the development and delivery of the go-to-market launch process to ensure product, company, and market readiness. Ensure strong launch execution for products in the strategic portfolio
    • Develop business cases for investments and obtain internal approval, as required
    • Communicate portfolio strategies, performance updates, and recommendations to senior management and key stakeholders. Present findings and proposals in a clear and compelling manner.

    Qualification & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
    • Degree in product management, engineering, marketing or other relevant fields.
    • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in a product management roles.
    • Knowledge and experience with health products is preferred (e.g. public health commodities, medical technologies or similar) and ability to understand purchasing process and challenges for product adoption.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills including experience in leading and working with multicultural, cross-functional teams across all organizational levels.
    • Proven analytical skills with demonstrated experience in gathering and analyzing complex data and defining a plan of action to support strategic decision making by the management team.

      About the job:

      The Strategy Analyst will be responsible for conducting thorough market research, analysing business data, and identify strategic initiatives that support the company’s long-term growth. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership and various departments to develop strategic plans that align with the organization’s objectives.

      This role is based in Lausanne, and will report directly to the Head of Strategy & Business Development.

      Main responsibilities:

      • Support senior management in developing long-term business strategies by conducting SWOT, PESTEL, and competitive analyses.
      • Identify opportunities for business growth, optimization, and diversification through detailed analysis.
      • Assist in the creation of business models, forecasts, and strategic roadmaps that align with organizational goals.
      • Gather, analyse, and interpret large sets of data related to market trends, competitors, and internal performance.
      • Prepare comprehensive reports and dashboards that provide actionable insights for business strategy development.
      • Track and assess the performance of implemented strategies, identifying areas of improvement.
      • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, customer preferences, and competitive dynamics.
      • Develop benchmarking reports comparing the company’s performance with industry standards and competitors.
      • Monitor industry shifts and provide recommendations to help the company stay ahead of competitors.
      • Liaise with various departments such as finance, marketing, and operations to gather necessary data and insights.
      • Present findings and strategic recommendations to executives and key stakeholders in clear and concise formats.
      • Provide support for ad-hoc strategic projects as required by leadership.

      Qualification & Experience

      • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
      • 3-5 years of experience in business analysis, strategic planning, or related roles.
      • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
      • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify and convey complex information to non-technical stakeholders.
      • Experience in conducting market research, financial modelling, and developing business strategies.
      • High attention to detail and a strong sense of accountability.
      • Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment is an advantage.
      • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, Power Bl, or Tableau.
