23.04.2024 Category: Advocacy Meet Dr Rinki Deb, Vestergaard’s Lead Scientist on Women in Malaria Response We are delighted that Dr Rinki Deb will be joining the esteemed panel during the Women in Malaria Response event during MIM on #World Malaria Day. Dr Deb joined Vestergaard in November as Lead Scientist for Public Health Products. With her extensive experience in global health, Dr. Deb brings over 15 years of expertise in translational and operational research, as well as product development for the elimination of neglected tropical diseases across Africa and Asia. Dr Deb’s role at Vestergaard will involve providing scientific leadership to support our innovation pipeline and market access strategy for the PermaNet portfolio. She will also be instrumental in developing research partnerships and opportunities that will carry product development from concept to commercialization. Her previous work includes providing technical leadership to the Indian government in establishing sustainable infrastructure for integrated vector monitoring and contributing to policy change efforts to move away from indoor residual spraying with DDT for visceral leishmaniasis elimination. Dr. Deb was also a key member of the team that developed a non-destructive sensor for monitoring the quality of IRS using microwave sensor technology. Before joining our team, Dr Deb served as Project Manager at a UK-based infectious diseases drug discovery biotech and the Infection Innovation Consortium (iiCON), a world-leading centre for infection innovation and R&D. There, she managed a mixed portfolio of projects and supported the advancement of innovative therapeutics, diagnostics, and preventative products. Dr Deb’s academic credentials are equally impressive, holding a PhD in Tropical Medicine from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, two Master’s degrees in Medical Parasitology and Project Management, and a BSc in Molecular Biology with Forensic Science.
