The most cost-effective tool against malaria

For more than two decades, PermaNet long-lasting insecticide-treated nets have played a central role in protecting lives against malaria. Designed for malaria elimination, our market-leading PermaNet portfolio continues to expand to address the challenges of insecticide resistance. We are the only manufacturer to use soft polyester in our complete portfolio, favoured by many users over “stiffer” polyethylene nets.

  • More than 1 billion PermaNet mosquito nets have been distributed worldwide, helping avert 2.2 billion malaria cases and 12.7 million malaria deaths (World Malaria Report 2024)

PermaNet® Dual: state-of-the-art malaria protection

Our first dual active-ingredient net, PermaNet Dual is part of the latest generation of malaria control, combining two insecticides with different modes of action for superior efficacy in areas of high insecticide resistance.

In PermaNet Dual, deltamethrin (a pyrethroid) disrupts the mosquito’s nervous system, while chlorfenapyr (a pyrrole) disrupts mosquito energy production, killing even highly resistant mosquitoes.

Key features of PermaNet Dual

  • Pyrethroid–chlorfenapyr nets are the only class of nets with a strong recommendation from the World Health Organization for use in areas of high insecticide resistance

  • Data suggest pyrethroid–chlorfenapyr nets can reduce malaria cases by up to 75% across 3 years of consistent use

  • Fastest manufacturing scale up in recent history to meet exceptional country demand

  • PermaNet Dual was prequalified by the World Health Organization in March 2023

PermaNet® 3.0: the first net to fight insecticide resistance

Rising resistance to standard pyrethroid insecticide threatens malaria control gains. PermaNet 3.0 was developed to boost deltamethrin efficacy by adding a synergist called piperonyl butoxide (PBO).

Key features of PermaNet 3.0

  • Backed by 10 years of research, PermaNet 3.0 technology ensures bioavailability of PBO and deltamethrin on the fabric surface over its 3-year lifespan

  • Studies showed the addition of PBO resulted in a 20% greater reduction in malaria cases compared with standard pyrethroid-only nets

  • PermaNet 3.0 was prequalified by the World Health Organization in January 2018 (converted from WHOPES)
